Main Square Redevelopment

Main Square is slated for redevelopment that will add an unsustainable amount of new density to the area.  There are numerous issues this will cause:

  • the shared public space of Main Square will be lost to a tower right on the corner
  • the existing buildings have foundation leak issues which is why nothing has been built yet
  • prior to COVID Main Station was so packed at morning rush hour sometimes it took 2 or 3 trains before one had space to get on
  • the community centre is supposed to be relocated, instead of reincorporated, and so will not conveniently serve previous residents or the new density

This is a prime example of overdensification, and will only make it harder for all residents of the area.  I oppose every aspect of this redevelopment.
